Red Sky at Morning
The Coast Guard claims
dangerous waters off the
coastlands of Northern
California
The Guard is right, of
course—and will that alter
our decisions for safety
sake
Well, I can hope so
But it seems to me that
warnings of danger mean
a challenge, a contest
to some,
even an extraordinary
holiday from which some
shall not return after
A last holiday—for some,
not me, too appealing

I guess we need take heed of warnings. Some I think, like to flout danger, almost show off how they’re not going to get hurt, until they do and then as you say, it’s their last holiday. Interesting piece 🙂

It’s a holiday weekend here, and too many will travel badly and hurt themselves. Or hurt worse others. Then there are those who will waste life in what looks like play but, in their heads, is a contest with fate. And, again, others will be hurt. So when I read this warning from the Coast Guard, I thought, yeah, we all can make good use of a look-ahead warning. Thanks for responding!

“warnings of danger mean
a challenge, a contest
to some…”
that is true. humans are indeed wired to break rules. (not all but mostly, I must say!)

It is especially tragic when needless waste of life is the result.
