Neurology
High notes are too much
Piano, then the strings
Of violin, viola, and the cello
Maybe someone adds
Spanish guitar
Too much, even one
To make them
No wonder the heart is said
To have and have not
Its strings
To resonate
And somehow in between them all
Outside, inside
There’s weeping

Lovely words. You have it right; the heart is a stringed instrument. It can be played upon or it can make its own music. Plucked or bowed strings make such heart-rending music.

Thank you. And, yes, it’s played upon. And it can make music on its own. I appreciate your clarity on this! I guess it is a dual capacity that’s promising and risky, that brings pleasure or pain from inside or from outside.

It seems to be a human characteristic to have all the emotions tweaked, as if happiness, elation, triumph are no more welcome than terror and grief. String music can evoke all of those. Maybe we need to see everything in the round, warts and all.

Warts and all, sounds just right.

Such a terribly sad piece. Very touching and revealing of such heart ache. Hope you’re feeling OK and the weather is turning nicer for you

Hi, Amanda! As always, thanks for your insight. It’s been an odd winter here. Today is gray and grim, which is all right though I wish the clouds would break and rain, already. We’ve had lots of such days. Some nice days, too, I guess, spring-like. One actual snowfall. Not that I should complain. You’ve had the real winter to endure. I hope that’s turning all right for you. I hope your health is good, overall. (I get to feel sorry for myself for having a cold, which has gotten into my breathing, yuck.)

The real winter is warming — I hope to stay.

Sorry you’re not feeling well. I hope your cold/breathing improves. Thad must make life very difficult 😦
