Just hours earlier about 40 miles southwest of Oakland, seven people were killed and one was critically wounded in shootings at two locations in Half Moon Bay, officials said. A 67-year-old suspect is in custody.
And in Southern California, 11 people were killed in a mass shooting Saturday night in Monterey Park.

The sad thing is the two recent mass killings were committed by a 67 year old and a 72 year old. There was also a recent mass killing, 5 people, by a 72 year old in Toronto who had a grudge against his condominium board of directors because he thought they were ignoring him. Does age not tone the rage or just enhances it for some because they develop mental illness.

What a horrible series of murderous acts by older perpetrators. I imagine, as you say, mental illness could be a reality and a reason. Uncapped rage could be another. I’d like to think with age generally comes mellowing, though clearly that’s not so. We are also living in a time when restraint has become a fragile application with folk of any age. Typically and scarily, there seem to be many more tragic domestic crimes of (and out of) dangerous extremes. Please take care.
